The Good News of GRACE

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9, NIV)

Contrary to what you often hear about God from other people, the Bible tells us that God is a God of grace. Grace is a kindness expressed to you even though you do not deserve it. Since God is holy and perfectly righteous, the only way that He could relate to anyone is by grace.

G stands for Gracious

Key point: God loves you and everyone else in the world!

God’s Word for You: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son [Jesus], that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (John 3:16, NIV)

Is there someone you know that is a really, really, good person? Do you think God loves that person more than you? The reality of God’s grace is that He cannot love you any less than the best person you know. He is your Creator and loves you because He gave you life. Yes, Jesus not only died for you but He rose from the dead so that you can know with certainty that His sacrifice was acceptable, your sins are forgiven, and that you can have a good relationship with God forever. Key Point: Eternal life is a forever relationship with God that starts the moment you choose to believe!

God’s Word for You: Whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned. (John 5:24, NIV)

Because of the grace that God has extended to you, you can enjoy a personal relationship with Him forever – this is eternal life. It starts when you stop trying to live life without Him (going your own way) and turn to the LORD Jesus. This is not about rules but relationship. When you follow the LORD Jesus, He will guide you in the path you should go. Will this mean changes? Absolutely!
